In rare circumstances, a doctor or nurse may decide that a consultation should take place at a patient’s home. This may be because they are terminally ill or if they are truly housebound with carers attending every day.
Unfortunately, we cannot visit for reasons of convenience or lack of transport. The majority of people now have access to transport through a relative, friend or neighbour or alternatively can make use of a taxi. As a general guide, if someone attends outpatient appointments at the hospital or leaves the house with the help of relatives or friends for other reasons, they should be seen at the surgery.
It is always safer for you to be seen at the surgery where we have the support of other staff, the correct equipment, examination couches and lighting needed to ensure the best assessment of your condition.
If you do feel that you or your relative may require a home visit, please try to telephone reception before 11:00 and one of our doctors will contact you to discuss your problem in more detail.
